Peeper Book Reviews

Highly recommended - art appreciation is fun!

With all of the budget cuts in school - and art classes suffering major blows - you'll definitely want to download this ebook for your child. You can tell the author has vast experience teaching art appreciation to young students and she certainly makes these 14 iconic masterpieces come to life in your child's everyday world. I even answered some Jeopardy questions after reading this aloud with my daughter. Get ready to visit some museums and take the Nook (or book) along to learn more details on each masterpiece. Bravo!

fiveups5.0 out of 5 stars fun to read!

I really enjoyed reading this book with my toddler! He loved the wonderful illustrations and the funny characters. I really like reading this one with him. It is fresh and creative. There are lots of little details to point out in the colorful drawings. So many kids books seem silly and babyish, but this one is enjoyable even after MANY reads. You will love sharing this one with your kids!

fiveups5.0 out of 5 stars "I Say...You Say; A Zany Peep at Opposites"

By Nancy R. Strauss "Retired Elementary School T... (Decatur, GA USA)

This review is from: I Say... You Say...: A Zany Peep at Opposites (Paperback)

I read this extremely creative book, "I Say...You Say", to a 5 year old granddaughter who became immediately engaged. After listening to a few pages, she began responding appropriately to the "opposites", re; "fancy-plain". She understood, when questioned, that Pal and Friend are not "opposite" and reciprocated to my chosen words in the blank lines of "I say...You say.
This book is logical, so the rhyming words used lead the reader and listener/child into the response.

Each page has such unique and colorful illustrations, but the fantastic Peepers created immediate attention from my granddaughter. She has learned the names of each. I think the author, an artist, has had so much fun herself creating these creatures, that she thought to devote a page for the reader to design a Peeper, too. What fun! I can't wait to see what my granddaughter creates!!

fiveups5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Interactive Text with Rhymes and Rhythm!

By Barbara Bosworth (Virginia, USA)

This review is from: A Peeper In My Pocket: A Zany Peep at the ABC's (Paperback)

"Peeper in My Pocket" is a wonderful interactive text with engaging rhymes and rhythm. It's a perfectly fun read aloud for preschool and primary-age children and an excellent mentor text for writing ABC books for elementary-age children. Additionally, the text supports vocabulary development for the very young as the child searches for the lovable Peeper characters and describes their action or location. The text includes a reiteration of the entire rhyme on a page at the end. I could see a child practice alphabet recognition on that page while recalling initial consonant words to match. I will keep this book on my shelf next to other books which support phonological awareness! What a delight!

This book was fun to read with my kids. The Peepers are adorable and rhyme in funny ways. By the end of our first read, my kids and I had each had chosen a different favorite Peeper (mine's Tweet). The illustrations are eye-catching with cool colors. This Peeper is a Keeper!

My girls (6, 4 and 15 mo) thoroughly enjoyed this book. They loved trying to decide which peeper was their favorite and ended up choosing them all! The pictures are colorful and crazy. I recommend this book for anyone who is working with a child on letter recognition, rhyming or reading.

I can't wait to read this book to my kids class! The words just flow as you read the story aloud making it fun to read. The rhyming makes it easy to change voices and involve the kids in the story. My children love the Peepers and think they are adorable. I can tell Peepers will be a family favorite for years to come!!!

I read this book to my 11 month old daughter for the first time and she would not let go of it for about an hour. She kept flipping over the pages. The book is a new way to teach ABC and for kids to enjoy it. It is very colorful and fun. I think anybody who has children will enjoy this book. Laurie Trinko

fiveups5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic book for young readers!

By Vincent J. Gaiani

Both of my nephews love to read out loud from "A Peeper In My Pocket", and I recommend it to anyone with young children who are developing an early interest in reading. The writing is easy for children to follow without being overly simplistic (a problem I've noticed with a lot of "ABC"-styled children's books), with equally engaging colors and characters on each page. I purchased "A Peeper In My Pocket" at a local bookstore in Virginia and I am keeping an eye out for additional books in the series - hopefully they will be soon to follow!

New, original...I've worked with pre-school aged children and this interactive, rhyming book is a great way to keep them engaged. Characters are adorable, pictures are cute, not overdone. Hope this is just the first of many from Ms. Pugh!

By Leslie Murphy "Reading Tutor" (Downers Grove, IL)

This review is from: A Peeper In My Pocket: A Zany Peep at the ABC's (Paperback)

As a certified teacher and a reading tutor, I am always looking for fun books to keep children interested in reading. A Peeper In My Pocket does just that with it's vibrant colors and fun rhymes! I enjoyed reading this book to my students as well as my 3-year-old son. It is difficult to keep his attention for any period of time but he listened to the whole book and answered my questions related to the book. Definitely a book that encourages interaction between adult and child!!!
